The Call (Bible Study)

August 13, 2024 by Andrew Burd-Harris 2 Comments

This fall Pastor Andrew will lead a Bible Study on the Apostle Paul inspired by Adam Hamilton’s book The Call. We will study some key passages from the book of Acts about Paul as well as Paul’s own writings. In addition to studying the Bible, we will watch some videos that Adam Hamilton produced to give us new insight into the Apostle Paul.

The class is being offered in-person or on Zoom. All sessions will be on Monday nights at 7 PM. Whether you participated in our first Bible study on Romans or have never read the book of Romans in your life, you are invited to join us as we explore Paul’s words to the Romans together.

The Gospel of Mark (Sunday School Class)

August 13, 2024 by Andrew Burd-Harris 2 Comments

Discover the Good News in the Bible’s earliest Gospel

Walk through the Bible’s earliest source for the life of Jesus with scholar Amy-Jill Levine as she examines John the Baptizer, the Little Apocalypse, the Transfiguration, and several of Jesus’s most notable stories and parables. The Good News of the gospel message comes alive in this book as readers see Jesus as divine and human, powerful and weak, approachable yet mysterious. The book features an in-depth study of select passages and illuminates the Gospel in its historical context and as a source for the other gospels.[1]

Join Pastor Andrew as his Sunday School class reads and discusses The Gospel of Mark: a beginners’ guide to the Good News. Participants should pick up a copy of Amy-Jill Levine’s The Gospel of Mark. If you would like the church to order a copy of the book for you, please contact the church office. The cost of the book is $14.00. If the cost of the book will be a problem, please talk to Pastor Andrew. If you would like to order through the church, please let us know by Sunday, August 25th.

Good Boundaries and Goodbyes (Sunday School Class)

June 15, 2024 by Andrew Burd-Harris Leave a Comment

Relationships are wonderful…until they’re not.

Join #1 New York Times bestselling author Lysa TerKeurst as she helps you stop the dysfunction of unhealthy relationships by showing you biblical ways to set boundaries–and, when necessary, say goodbye–without losing the best of who you are.

Within these pages, Lysa will help you:

• Understand the five factors to remember when implementing healthy boundaries

• Determine the appropriate amount of personal and emotional access someone has to you based on how responsible they’ll be with that access

• Stop being misled and emotionally paralyzed by wrongly interpreted or weaponized scriptures that perpetuate unhealthy dynamics in difficult relationships

• Overcome the frustrating cycle of ineffective boundary-setting with realistic scripts and practical strategies to help you communicate, keep, and implement healthier patterns

• Be equipped to say goodbye without guilt when a relationship has shifted from difficult to destructive and is no longer sustainable

Along the way, you’ll also receive therapeutic wisdom you can trust directly from Lysa’s Christian counselor Jim Cress, who weighs in throughout the book. As you understand more about setting healthy boundaries, you’ll be relieved to learn that boundaries aren’t just a good idea, they’re a God idea. If you’re ready to gain the biblical wisdom and confidence to finally set boundaries you can keep, let Good Boundaries and Goodbyes be your new go-to guide.[1]

Join Pastor Andrew as his Sunday School class reads and discusses Good Boundaries and Goodbyes. Participants should pick up a copy of Lysa Terkeurst’s Good Boundaries and Goodbyes.
