Romans Part Two (Bible Study)

March 27, 2024 by Andrew Burd-Harris 1 Comment

This letter is truly the most important piece in the New Testament. It is purest Gospel. It is well worth a Christian’s while not only to memorize it word for word but also to occupy himself with it daily, as though it were the daily bread of the soul. It is impossible to read or to meditate on this letter too much or too well. The more one deals with it, the more precious it becomes and the better it tastes

From Preface to Romans by Martin Luther

In the fall of 2022, Pastor Andrew led a Bible study on the first part of Romans. This April, we will look at the rest of the book of Romans. We will wrestle with questions like: what does a life in the Spirit look like? How do we live out our faith? Who all is included in God’s gift of salvation? How do we stay united in Christ when we disagree fundamentally as Christians?

The class is being offered in-person or on Zoom. All sessions will be on Monday nights at 7 PM. Whether you participated in our first Bible study on Romans or have never read the book of Romans in your life, you are invited to join us as we explore Paul’s words to the Romans together.

Schedule

  • April 8-Romans 9&10
  • April 15-Romans 11&12
  • April 22-Romans 13&14
  • April 29-Romans 15&16

Being United Methodist Christians (Sunday School)

March 12, 2024 by Andrew Burd-Harris 2 Comments

How may we describe United Methodists? Where do we come from? What do we believe? How do United Methodists act? What are our distinctive characteristics? What is required to be a member of our denomination? How do we grow as disciples of Jesus Christ within this great communion?

This book will help readers:
· hear and claim for themselves the story of God’s love, God’s redemption, and God’s ongoing presence and power through Jesus Christ.
· explore and claim for themselves the unique beliefs and emphases of United Methodist Christians.
· identify ways to live day by day as United Methodist Christians as individuals and in community with other Christians.[1]

Participants should pick up a copy of the Langfords’ Being United Methodist Christians: living a life of grace and hope. If you would like the church to order a copy of the book for you, please contact us. The cost of the book is $13. If the cost of the book will be a problem, please talk to Pastor Andrew.
