The Walk (Sunday School Class)

February 20, 2025 by Andrew Burd-Harris 1 Comment

Examine five essential spiritual practices rooted in Jesus’ own walk with God.

How do we walk with Christ—daily follow him, grow in him, and faithfully serve him?

In the Gospels, Jesus modeled for us the Christian spiritual life. The apostles taught it in their writings. And the Church has, through the last 2,000 years, sought to pursue this Christian spiritual life.

In The Walk, Adam Hamilton focuses on five essential spiritual practices that are rooted in Jesus’ own walk with God and taught throughout the New Testament. Each of these practices is intended as part of our daily walk with Christ while also being an essential part of growing together in the church.

In each chapter, Hamilton explores one of these practices, its New Testament foundation, and what it looks like to pursue this practice daily in our personal life and together in the life of the church. Deepen your walk with Christ as we explore the five essential practices of worship, study, serving, giving, and bearing witness to our faith.[1]

Join Pastor Andrew as his Sunday School class reads and discusses Adam Hamilton’s The Walk: five essential practices of the Christian Life. Participants should pick up a copy The Walk. If you would like the church to order a copy of the book for you, please contact the church office. The cost of the book is $11.50. If the cost of the book will be a problem, please talk to Pastor Andrew. If you would like to order through the church, please let us know by Sunday, April 13th.

Schedule

  • May 4 – Introduction (Walking with God) and Chapter One (Worship and Prayer: a living hallelujah)
  • May 11 – No study
  • May 18– Chapter Two (Study: the importance of listening and paying attention)

Women in the Bible (Bible Study)

February 20, 2025 by Andrew Burd-Harris 3 Comments

This spring, Pastor Andrew will lead a Bible study on Women in the Bible. While men in the Bible often get the spotlight, women in the Bible have powerful stories that can inspire our faith today. The class will explore the culture these women were raised in. We’ll ask questions about what is both in the Bible and not in the Bible. What lessons can we take from their stories to help us as children of God today?

The class is being offered in-person or on Zoom. All sessions will be on Monday nights at 7 PM. In-person session will be in Room 3 in the basement next to the fellowship hall. Contact the church office for Zoom information.

Schedule

  • March 10: Women of Faith-Sarah and Hannah
  • March 24: Women of Courage-Esther and Deborah
  • March 31: Women of Loyalty-Ruth and Naomi
  • April 7: The Virtuous Woman of Proverbs 31
  • April 28:  Women Following Jesus
  • May 5: Women of Second Chances
